Update - August 2013

Hello everyone.  I hope the dog days of summer are not getting you down and you've managed to get some stitches on your hooks and needles, even in the unbearable heat.   It's been cool as a cucumber in the shop thanks to Mark Martin (206-2838), the fabulous heating/cooling master, who fixed the AC ASAP, every time it went kaputz.  As a result I have been making and finishing items all summer.  I'm as surprised as you are, given my poor track record for actually finishing.

I've got a new baby girl coming in October who's been getting some serious knitting attention so that I have all the best oooh's an ahh's at the shower! Booties, blankets, and boleros have been completed so far. I'm so inspired!

I'm also knitting like crazy on the all the items for the Alaskan hunting pack for August, embroidered socks, wash cloths with caribou antlers, and a balaclava.  They are all mostly complete but not ready for the pack just yet.  Wish me luck.

I also have my own first fall sweater, Relax, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/relax-5 going out of Tosh Light when I want a completely brainless knit-in-the-round project. My version is a gorgeous sunflower yellow that will have slits in the back and an embroidered tree in the front.  I'm really into embroidering my knits at the moment.  I hope it will look as good completed as it does in my mind!

Sharon's tee shirt class is going well. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/p90-diagonal-triangle-tank-tee.  They are churning out some seriously beautiful tops made of cotton, silk and merino!  Love them all!

My Woodburne cardigan class, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/woodburne-cardigan,  is moving slowly but surely.  Mine is super cozy out of Misti Alpaca Tonos even thought it's only 4 inches high so far (baby and hunting items taking priority).  This class has been a weekly treat for me this summer and I'm loving seeing everyone's sweater emerge as they make progress every week.

Sharon and I have finally put a class schedule together that we are both excited about.  Check it out in the class section.  I'm also working on getting a surprise instructor so look for more on that soon!

August will bring in all the new fall yarns.  I've already gotten 30 colors of Malabrigo Rios.  It's my best selling wool for good reason!  Super soft, super colors, and super price for a 100% superwash merino. Lots more Malabrigo is being shipped tomorrow.  Last week I opened a box full of knit jewelry kits from Nelkin Designs stuff with great new designs all packaged up with everything you need for a quickly knit beaded bracelet or necklace. The patterns are well written and easy to follow.  Sublime baby books and baby cashmerino were just shipped today and Madeline Tosh should be on it's way any day now.

Even though it's still summer outside, it's starting to feel like fall in the shop.  Get the feeling and stop by to check it all out!

Out of the Loop will remain on summer hours through September 3.  During those dates we will be closed on Tuesdays as well as Mondays.  Thank you for your understanding.

See you soon!

Sincerely,

Theresa Kirby
