Update - June 11, 2015

Many knitters and crocheters put down their needles and hooks in the summer, feeling that having wool or any fiber in your hands is just too hot.  I have never felt this way.  I love the feel of wool in my fingers during any season.  While I may not bring a wool blanket to knit on the beach, I love to knit a sweater over the summer to have fresh and new for the fall.  I try to pick something made in pieces so that I don't have anything too heavy in my lap.  This summer there are too many reasons not to put aside your favorite hobby!

This Saturday, June 13, is World Wide Knit in Public Day.  Last year we had so much fun knitting together at Upper Landing Park, which is just below the Walkway over the Hudson on the Poughkeepsie side.   This year the park was not available on June 13, so we will have that event on Saturday, June 20, from 10 am to 1 pm.  Mark your calendars.  I will be there all day so please bring your chair and your project and knit with me in public!

I'm excited to say that we will host Knit in Public Day at the shop this Saturday, June 13.  Please bring your project and stop by to knit.  I'll have seating inside and outside and will serve snacks and refreshments.  Also, 10% off your purchases that day.  Wear your Out of the Loop tee shirt to both events if you got one last year!

Out of the Loop and eleven yarn shops in the Hudson Valley have joined to promote fiber art over the summer via the Hudson Valley Yarn Shop Cruise.  It begins on Saturday, June 13, Worldwide Knit in Public Day, and ends on Monday, September 7, Labor Day.  This self-guided driving tour will give you the opportunity to experience the unique qualities that make each shop and each town beautiful. Stop by the shop anytime to purchase a special project bag for $10 showing a beautiful map of the participating shops. Inside you'll find your passport and all you need to participate in the events at each shop and be eligible for the prizes drawn after Labor Day.   For guidelines, special events and a list of shops, visit the Hudson Valley Yarn Shop Cruise Ravelry Group at http://www.ravelry.com/groups/hudson-valley-yarn-shop-cruise  or the Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hudson-Valley-Yarn-Shop-Cruise/485467194955265 .  Post your purchases, prizes, and projects on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook using #HVYarnCruise.
See you Saturday!
