Class List - Winter 2017

GREAT AMERICAN ARAN AFGHAN - NEW
This beautiful afghan is knit in squares using different stitch patterns, all designed by the readers of Knitter's magazine.  The pattern includes 24 squares of which we'll make 20 for an afghan.  We'll work one square each month and discuss all the techniques involved in completing that square.  You'll perfect your knitting skills while creating this heirloom afghan.  Since you'll want your squares to be knit from the same dye lot you'll want purchase your yarn before the class starts, if possible.  Having done this class already, I'm excited to teach all that we've learned and to finish the squares I have remaining.  Each square has provided me a learning experience! Stop in to talk to me to see if this is right for you.

FRIDAY MORNING SWEATER CLUB
This sweater club has evolved over the year.  What was once everyone working on one sweater, it's become something less structured.  There are a few people beginning this gorgeous cardigan, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/doresu-caridgan.  Others are working on Amy Herzog's CustomFit sweaters.  I've been working on this sweetie for my sweetie, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sweet-jane-2.  Pick something we're working on or pick your own and learn the techniques for sweater construction.
Dates/Times: Fridays, 9:00 - 10:00, beginning February 12.
PRICE: $10 per week

CROCHET SKILLS PROJECT
Every year I find a crochet heart to make for my family for Valentine's Day.  This year I found this fun heart that has some techniques that I could use practice with, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-meiringspoort-heart .  Join me for a couple of weeks and you'll have some fun, build your crochet skills, and make a sweet valentine for your valentine.
Materials: You'll need some stash yarn in at least three colors and a hook to match.
Experience: You should have basic crochet skills (chain, SC, DC).  You'll learn how to start a magic ring, work in the posts, and how to change colors.
Date/Times:  Saturday, Feb 11., 9:00 - 12:00
PRICE: $30

BEGINNER BRIOCHE
This fun skill looks like it shouldn't be a lot to master but many a successful knitter has been frustrated by the brioche stitch (remember all you drop-outs from the 2010 class!).  I have a plan and I am determined to help you develop this beautiful technique.  Using Purl Soho's color dipped scarf as a foundation pattern, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/color-dipped-scarves we will master this skill! We'll start on bigger needles and thicker yarn and one color.  Once we have that down, we'll add a color.  If there's time and interest, we'll add as stitch pattern to the color.  By the end we'll have a new skill and fashionable and warm scarf.  Give it a try!
Date/Times: Feb. 11 and Feb 18, 12:00 - 2:00
PRICE: $40

Class List - Fall 2016

Beginning November 11, we'll continue our Friday morning sweater club with a brand new CustomFit sweater (see above).  I have wanted a basic sort of cropped, sort of casual, sort of open neck, cardigan for a while and this fits (pun intended) the bill perfectly.  I'm excited for everyone to try a CustomFit sweater to see how perfect this method is. This should be a basic that works in your wardrobe forever!  Stop by to get fitted and choose some yarn to start your swatch.  See more here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/charlies-cardigan

Fair Isle Christmas Stocking
I have made and gave this stocking several times and each time I have been thrilled with the result. It's rather large so last year I modified the pattern a bit and found the perfect size.  We will make the modified version (unless you're feeling like you need to fill a giant stocking).  As long as you can knit and purl comfortably, I'll teach you the rest.  You'll learn how to work in the round using dpns or magic loop, basic sock construction, optional chart reading, stranded knitting for the fair isle designs, duplicate stitch for the name, and much more.

Check out the basic design here and I will get a complete stocking for display at the shop.
DATES/TIMES:  Saturdays, 9:00 - 10:00, Sept. 10, Oct. 1, Oct. 22, and Nov. 12
PRICE: $40

Cabled Cap/Cowl
This super cozy, super cute project works up super fast!  It will make a great gift for yourself or someone on your list that will love the versatility, warmth, and design of this accessory that can tie up tightly into a cozy hat or loosen up into drapey, warm cowl.  Bring your ability to knit and purl and I'll teach you how to work in the round using magic loop or basic circulars, make basic cables and traveling cables, optional chart reading, make an i-cord, and much more.  This is a shop pattern so stop by to see the sample.
